FloorSkills is a specialist commercial flooring training centre and apprenticeship provider based in Earlswood, Solihull. It delivers funded flooring apprenticeships that are open to learners of any age and experience level, offering up to 30 days of practical training at its dedicated training centre. Apprentices are employed by a flooring business and attend FloorSkills on a block-release basis, typically for 3–5 days every other month, combining workplace learning with structured off‑site training. The programme focuses on textiles and impervious floorcoverings to Level 2, leading to a Level 2 Floorlayer certification, Functional Skills, and Employer Rights and Responsibilities, with an independent End Point Assessment that includes practical, professional discussion and knowledge test components. Apprentices cover subfloor preparation, stretch-fit and contract textile installation, carpet tiles, luxury vinyl tiles, cushion vinyl and safety flooring, alongside estimating and specification skills. Beyond apprenticeships, FloorSkills offers a wide range of commercial flooring courses with recognised qualifications across areas such as epoxy and PU resin, subfloor preparation, surveying and estimating, textiles and carpets, LVT, vinyl, linoleum, laminate and wood flooring, and sanding and sealing. The centre also delivers NVQs, independent inspections and manufacturer-approved training, operating from Europe’s largest independent flooring training facility with extensive specialist bays and training areas.
